ACCESS for ELLs 2.0

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 stands for Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners. This is an English language proficiency assessment given to Kindergarten through 12th graders who have been identified as English language learners (ELLs). This test is given annually in WIDA (World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment) Consortium member states to monitor students' progress in acquiring academic English. At Willmar Middle School, students in grades 6-8 who meet the criteria take the online ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 test.

The ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 test items are written based on the 5 English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards as indicated by WIDA: Social and Instructional Language, Language of Language Arts, Language of Mathematics, Language of Science, and Language of Social Studies. The test assesses students in the areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Students test on the iPad on all areas of the test.

For further information on the ACCESS test, please visit the WIDA website.
